Near the city's central train station - on the area of the railway repair factory - the remains of an old heating plant are withstanding time, probably just waiting for their demolition.
This heating plant not only supplied the railway repair factory with heat (steam), but for a time also the nearby "Interhotel" which had been built in the 1960s.
To fuel the furnaces, the coal was transported from the coal bunker to the boiler house using a monorail telpher.
The overhead crane trolley was last inspected in June 1990; its operation is said to have been shut down in November of the same year. In 1996, the railway repair factory was shut down, and the heating plant was no longer needed.
