The main part of the hospital was opened at the beginning of the 20th century after a construction period of two years.
At the time, it had about 100 beds for patients and was equipped with modern operating rooms, a mortuary, a building with disinfection chambers and a building for patients with infectious diseases.
Later the hospital was expanded with an emergency room.
From 2005 on, the "cutting professions" moved out of the building which for its final years accomodated a psychiatric hospital.
Around 2010, the hospital was permanently closed.
